Two musical masterpieces, both composed for piano and string quartet, express the turmoil and vertigo of 19th-century Romanticism. An ensemble of exceptional musicians performs a movement from Mendelssohn’s Quartet Op. 3 (1825) and Brahms’ Quartet Op. 60 (1875). Meanwhile, Guido Barbieri’s narrative voice stretches a thread that, between storytelling, literary investigation and musicological consideration, unites these two works related to Johann Wolfgang Goethe.
