A story woven from such stuff as nightmares are made on, capable of both terrifying and thrilling us. Hyde embodies the physicality, desire and transgression that Jekyll conceals beneath a life devoted to work, reason and virtue. The obsession with experimentation and the ambiguity of science, split personalities and the dangers of repression make this novel, written in 1886, a reflection on human nature that still captivates us today and asks: Is it possible to separate good from evil?
