Vasko Vassilev, concertmaster of the Royal Opera House, is set to take Mittelfest by storm with his explosive quintet, the Covent Garden Soloists. Through a repertoire that transcends genre boundaries without compromising on formal rigour, Vassilev creates a dialogue between the cultures that have shaped his artistic development. Vivaldi’s baroque, Brahms’ romanticism, Balkan tradition and Argentine tango interact in original arrangements, giving rise to a relentless flow of sound capable of turning fear into light.
