Friuli Venezia Giulia and Republic of Croatia:
A future to share in the heart of Europe

Since 2021, Associazione Mitteleuropa has been enhancing the rich programme of theatre, music, dance and circus performances staged by Mittelfest by organising an important event of institutional friendship, a forum for dialogue and meetings between Friuli Venezia Giulia and foreign countries, thus confirming the special relations of this region with countries that are close to it in terms of geography, history and culture.

In 2021, the special guest was Slovenia, with the honour of the presence of the President of the Republic Borut Pahor. In 2022 it was the turn of Austria, in 2023 of Hungary on the occasion of Veszprém, European Capital of Culture 2023, and in 2024 of the Czech Republic. In 2025, the guest country of the forum is Croatia, whose connection with the Italian area of Mitteleuropa is naturally inseparable.
