World premiere

Eight cellos. An octagon. Eight dancers, inside. A fractal interplay of cellists and dancing bodies performing Michael Gordon’s work ‘8’. The sound becomes a circular space, moving like a wave with no beginning or end, but flowing around and enveloping the dance. The audience becomes the guardian of the circle, a presence that both defines and participates. ‘8’ is not just a number, but a symbol. It is infinity, circularity, the continuous transition between the individual and the collective, between presence and absence, between silence and vibration.
