Held in the Church of San Francesco

In The Double Life of Veronique – a cult film by Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski – two women, almost identical in appearance, lead separate yet partly connected lives. Weronika and Véronique, one in Krakow and the other in Paris, are both opera singers, yet two different destinies await them, built through small daily choices. Weronika’s fate will be opposite to that of her alter-ego Véronique. What is identity? And how inevitable is destiny? The suspended and imaginative atmosphere, emphasized by the music by composer Zbigniew Preisner, accompanies the audience, between Krakow and Paris, through epiphanies, visions made up of emotions alone, in which to lose oneself in the inexplicability of events, and then find oneself in the silences and gazes of those who remain.
